A 5 year-old girl was killed and her mother and brothers were injured when a car drove onto a sidewalk and then into them near Chicago, Illinois on Monday afternoon.
The girl was taken to an area hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The mother, 25, and her two sons, ages 2 and 4, were hospitalized with minor personal injuries.
The driver of the car was an 18 year-old girl. She was taken to a local hospital to be treated for minor injuries and later released with no criminal charges being filed.
Witnesses say the female driver began driving erratically just before heading onto the sidewalk, and she appeared unsteady as she sat on the sidewalk after the incident. Police continue to investigate the matter.
