Synthos is a Polish manufacturing firm which employs 2700 people worldwide and located in the Czech Republic. The explosion took place at an industrial site at around 10 a.m. A spokesman for Unipetrol, which operates a Synthos chemical facility at the chemical plant, said several people had suffered what could only be described as devastating injuries when a tanker exploded. Rescue crews and helicopters were at the scene and the area has also been sealed off by police.
