The police officer pulled Malone over and asked him to exit the motor vehicle. The officer stated that he smelled alcohol on the breath of the 34 year-old veteran NHL forward. Malone refused field sobriety test and was taken to a police station. At the station, Malone submitted to Breathalyzer tests which registered a blood alcohol content of .112 and .116. This BAC is higher than the legal driving limit of .08 in Florida. The police officers also found 1.3 grams of cocaine in Malone\u2019s pocket.<\/p>\n<p>Tampa Bay Police charged Malone with driving under the influence of alcohol and possession of a controlled substance. Malone was released from jail on a bond of $2500.<\/p>\n<p>Malone was vigorously defended over the drunk driving incident by his coach at Tampa Bay Lightning.
