Unfortunately, Mayo\u2019s boyfriend\u2019s actions went beyond threats. In fact, he shot her in the back, resulting in her being paralyzed below the chest except for limited mobility in her left arm. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/mgyIoDq0TDc\" width=\"420\" height=\"280\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Cambria, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Mayo is now suing the Dallas police department for failing to quickly respond to her 911 calls, which she alleged directly led to her <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Cambria, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">being shot and her <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Cambria, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">paralysis. In an interview with nbcdfw.com, <strong>Mayo said: \u201c<\/strong><\/span><\/span><strong><span style=\"font-family: Cambria, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">I<\/span><\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-family: Cambria, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><strong>f they\u2019d have come out the first five times we called I wouldn\u2019t be paralyzed.&#8221;<\/strong> Mayo said in an <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Cambria, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">other<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Cambria, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"> interview. &#8220;And my whole family wouldn\u2019t be destroyed and none of this would have happened.&#8221;<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: Cambria, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">She is seeking $1 million in damages, <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Cambria, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">primarily<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Cambria, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"> for her pain and suffering but also <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Cambria, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">for <\/span><\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-family: Cambria, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><strong>her lost wages<\/strong>. Mayo says she ran her own salon and used to earn $100,000 a year, but now she does not know how she will provide for herself or her four children.
