Parents Say Hockey Check In Massachusetts High School Game Was Criminal.

The parents of a Duxbury, MA hockey player who was hit with a “bone-crushing check” during a high school hockey game say that the check should be considered to constitute criminal assault and battery.  The parents are seeking to press criminal charges.

The Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association has said that it became aware of the incident recently, but that it has no plans to take any action. The Duxbury student who was hit with the check was diagnosed with a concussion.  A lawyer for the hockey player who caused the injury says that the player did not intend to hurt anyone, and that hockey is a contact sport.
