Police in Alabama searched a home in Montgomery, hoping to find a man believed to have fatally shot three people near Auburn University this past weekend. They were unsuccessful.
The suspect, Desmonte Leonard, is charged with three counts of capital murder. The shooting occurred at a pool party on Saturday night at the University Heights apartments, just outside the school’s campus. Leonard is suspected of pulling a gun after a fight broke out. Three young people were killed, two of whom were former Auburn football players, and another three were wounded. One of the wounded, a 20 year-old and current Auburn football player, is fighting for his life with a gunshot wound to his head.
The police raided the house with smoke and tear gas, where they believed Leonard was hiding. However, the police did not catch him. The manhunt is still underway.
